HR Club

Aim:

  1. To create human rights awareness among students
  2. To bring the latent talents of the students regarding human rights
  3. To bring a change in the thinking and power of thinking of the students
  4. To develop students as human rights executers

Structure of the club:

1. Name of the Club:

The club should have a specific name. It would be better if the name is related to human rights. It is necessary to encourage the students to decide   the name of the club.

2. Name and address of the club:

The name and address of the school in which the club is formed can be mentioned.

3. Who can become members?

  1. The students of Human Rights Education from class 6 to 9 who are interested in human rights can become the member
  2. The students who wished to become a member can give their names to the advisor of the club
  3. Physically challenged students will be provided equal opportunities
  4. First preference to female students

4. Students Initiators  

  1. The initiators should be the coordinator. It can be either male or female student interested in human rights.
  2. The students will be divided into small groups and the interested person-in-charge will become an initiators
  3. Opportunities will be provided to new coordinator once in every three months.

5. Motivator:

  1. The motivator should be a guide to the club and a good advisor. A teacher who is interested in human rights education and has undergone human rights training can become a motivator.
  2. The motivator should cooperate with the students in implementing the decisions taken by the club and executing their duties.

6. Advisor:

  1. The chief advisor of the club will be the head master. He would be the chief guide. He should be a good advisor in encouraging the activities of the club.

Activities:

Awareness:

  1. To create an understanding among students about human rights and thenceforth create awareness about human rights around the school environment
  2. Reading news about human rights. Conduct interactions and to discuss about human rights and human right violations
  3. To gather intimation about human rights and discuss them at the meeting held in the club
  4. To celebrate important days like Human Rights Day and Women’s Day in schools and its locale.
  5. The students should discuss the issues regarding human rights and thereby enhancing the independent participation of the students.
  6. To organize human rights discussion programs where the human rights students, teachers and parents will discuss the implementations of the club
  7. To conduct conferences and awareness protestations about human rights
  8. To work with parents and teachers in preventing the drop out of children from school thereby,  insisting that education is fundamental right of every child
  9. To conduct protestations against child labour
  10. To emphasize equality of female children
  11. To enlighten public about the various human right violations  through folk art
  12. To explain the importance of human rights to government officials, officers of education department, parent-teacher association and other Panchayat bodies in the village thereby seeking their support
  13. To perform cultural programmmes through media
  14. To inform the daily activities of the club through notice board

Capacity building:

  1. Can conduct programmes among the children which helps them in building their capacities in speech, communication, protesting and in creativity
  2. To bring out the latent talent of the children in writing awakening songs and folk arts
  3. To develop their capacity in documenting the activities of the club
  4. To introduce basic laws to the students like the Constitutional Law, Consumer Protection Act and Right to Information Act
  5. Help them in identifying the organizations which work for child rights
  6. Make students participate in the legal aid camps, to assist the legal officers
  7. To provide training in writing complaints about human right violations
  8. To help students in analyzing the human right violation which occurred and developing their capacity in questioning the same

Implementation Process:

  1. The students themselves should write articles to the newspapers about human rights
  2. The awakening human rights protestations should be made known through cultural programmes
  3. To conduct signature campaigns insisting human right defense
  4. To show friendly concern to the people, victimized by human right violation
  5. The news related with human rights should be disclosed through cultural programmes especially through songs, skits and paintings
